Cael Sanderson's Jayden James Decision Reveals Penn State's Lineup Plan

Cael Sanderson's decision to defer Jayden James's eligibility could reveal Penn State wrestling's plans for 157, 165 and 174 pounds in the 2026-27 season.

On Locked On Nittany Lions, Zach Seyko welcomes Jeff Byers, the voice of Penn State wrestling, to examine why the Nittany Lions are taking a long-term approach with one of the nation's top recruits and how that decision affects Tyler Kasak, PJ Duke, Mitchell Mesenbrink, Joe Sealey and the rest of the lineup.

Could Mesenbrink move up to 174? Is Duke headed for 165? And what happens if Levi Haines gains another year of NCAA eligibility?

Plus, Zach and Jeff break down Penn State's newly released 2026-27 wrestling schedule, including Bryce Jordan Center dual meets against Michigan and Iowa, the road trip to Ohio State, and the challenge of maintaining the program's remarkable success.

Which Penn State lineup would you choose? Share your thoughts in the comments!
