Then, Lux Radio Theater, originally broadcast October 3, 1949,  77 years ago, It Happens Every Spring, starring Ray Milland reprising his starring role from the 1949 picture. A professor accidentally discovers a strange chemical that makes anything it touches repel wood. He takes a leave of absence to use the discovery on a baseball, joins the St. Louis big-league team, becomes a star pitcher, and leads them to the World Series.

Followed by George Burns and Gracie Allen, originally broadcast October 3, 1946, 80 years ago, Marrying off Eddie Cantor's Daughter.  Gracie tries to find a husband for Eddie Cantor’s daughter Janet Cantor so Eddie can have more room in his house.  

Followed by Yours Truly Johnny Dollar starring Bob Bailey, originally broadcast October 3, 1956, 70 years ago, The Picture Postcard Matter, part 3 of 5.  Johnny nearly skis off a cliff after being shot at on the mountainside. 

Finally, Lum and Abner, originally broadcast October 3, 1941, 85 years ago, Getting Rid of the Sales Book.  The salesmanship book has been burned and the next great experiment is a second-hand adding machine.
