A real weekend of kung-fu competition, told right after crossing the finish line – medals, mixed feelings about a mistake at the end, and a genuinely fascinating moment: sitting down with a judge who explains, move by move, exactly what she scored and why. It’s a rare, precise glimpse into competitive martial arts vocabulary, wrapped in a very human, very tired post-competition voice. There’s also a nice full-circle moment here: the routine at the center of this episode is the same ‘90’ sequence that inspired this entire summer series. This summer, no pen, no notebook – just listening and speaking. Subscribers receive a podcast letter with this episode: a question to think about before pressing play, cultural markers to go deeper into the episode, a technical passage worth practicing out loud for its rhythm, and a comprehension question to answer once you’ve heard the whole story. A different way to make progress in French,.
