Restoring our faith in humanity this week, the spotlight is on Sirish Subash, a young innovator from Snellville, Georgia. Sirish, a ninth-grade student, has created a groundbreaking device called "PestiSCAND" designed to detect pesticide residues on produce. His invention, which uses spectral photometry and an AI-based machine learning program, won the 3M Young Scientist Challenge and aims to address significant health risks associated with pesticide residues found in 70% of produce. We salute Sirish’s creativity and determination, celebrating his efforts to make a tangible difference in public health and safety.
