Big 12 Expert Just Joined NATIONAL TV and PROVED We're Better Than the SEC...

The seismic shift in television selections this week proves what hardcore fans have known all along: the traditional, SEC-obsessed monopoly on premier broadcast windows is finally cracking.

When ESPN and ABC bypassed typical southern inventory to lock in a 7:30 p.m. ET prime-time slot for Notre Dame’s trip to Provo, it signaled a massive validation of the Big 12's explosive drawing power. For years, the Bristol-based machine treated national television windows as a private club for regional brands, shoving any matchup outside of traditional boundaries into secondary streaming or late-night slots. But by putting a marquee Big 12 showdown front and center on the network's main stage, the decision-makers are acknowledging where the most compelling, high-stakes football is actually being played.

This isn't merely about scheduling convenience; it's a direct response to a conference that refuses to bow to coastal media narratives. While the old guard relies on pre-season brand prestige and manufactured hype, the Big 12 is delivering authentic, week-in and week-out chaos through pure trench warfare and parity. Snagging the premier ABC window over legacy conference options proves that the viewing public—and the networks chasing their eyeballs—are starved for genuine competition rather than localized monopolies.

As the lights go up at LaVell Edwards Stadium, the rest of the country will get a front-row seat to the meat grinder. This prime-time spotlight isn't a handout; it's a long-overdue concession to a league that has quietly become the most fiercely entertaining television in all of college sports.
