Episode 291 - Mariah Carey's "Butterfly"

Let's talk about the 1997 album by Mariah Carey, "Butterfly"! My guest is Shaleena from Everything '90's Podcast, back again. We refer to Mariah's book "The Meaning of Mariah Carey". Mariah delved straight into hip-hop and R&B on this offering, being out from under the thumb of Sony Music president Tommy Mottola after their divorce. Many big collabs and a fresh new sound. We learn that "The Roof" was about Derek Jeter, and more details of her love life. Another song-by-song breakdown.
