Todd Wade: Trinidad Chambliss Is Almost Perfect | Game Of The Year

Most of Missouri week has been about three former Rebels coming home. That's the wrong line. Ole Miss legend Todd Wade, who played on the offensive line, calls this "the game of the year for Ole Miss," and says it gets decided up front: Ole Miss allows one sack a game, best in the SEC, against a Missouri defense with 15 sacks, per the Ole Miss game notes.

Tomorrow, Missouri. Eight days to Texas.

Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Todd Wade break down how Ole Miss fixed itself against Vanderbilt, the 1999 team and its close losses, why Ole Miss's pass protection is the matchup to watch, and how to speed up Austin Simmons. Then Todd gives his final score for Missouri.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Todd Wade doesn't hedge: "I hope everyone knows that this is the game of the year for Ole Miss because if we don't win this game, there's a great chance we don't go to the playoffs." The edge is Oxford. Ole Miss has won 14 straight at home, per the game notes, and Wade says the crowd keeps "creating issues for the offensive line, quarterbacks, and all the communication up front."

2. The trenches decide it. Ole Miss allows one sack a game, best in the SEC; Missouri has 15 sacks. Wade on the line he knows best: "One of our strengths of our offensive line" is pass protection. On defense, Austin Simmons has 14 TD passes and one interception, and Wade's answer is pressure: "We can't sit there and let him throw the ball."

3. Wade expects Ole Miss to "come out hot" and Trinidad Chambliss to have a big day: "I'm grading Trinidad here. He's almost perfect." What scares him is Missouri's balance, running and throwing. Steven's line: if the game gets into the 30s, that's advantage Ole Miss. Todd Wade's final score: Ole Miss 34, Missouri 31.
