No. 4 And Getting Points. I Made A Florida Host Defend That | Ole Miss vs Florida

Florida's defensive coordinator watched the Auburn tape this week, saw 271 passing yards allowed, and called it what it was: "not acceptable." Then Brad White described the quarterback he sees Saturday — Trinidad Chambliss — as an "elite level player" with "unbelievable arm strength" who "can escape anywhere in the pocket." Chambliss leads the SEC in passing. Florida is still the favorite.

So we brought in somebody who watches that team every day. Brandon Olsen hosts Locked On Gators, and he is not here to tell Ole Miss fans what they want to hear.

Two days to Gainesville. Saturday, September 26, 3:30 PM ET on ABC from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium — the 28th meeting between two programs whose all-time series is dead even at 13-13-1.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Florida is averaging 54.0 points a game and it is not all cupcakes. The Gators put 66 on Florida Atlantic and 52 on Campbell, then went to Jordan-Hare and hung 44 on Auburn. Jadan Baugh has 458 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns at 8.5 a carry, and he is the first Florida back with four straight 100-yard games since Fred Taylor in 1997.

2. Florida's own coordinator flagged the secondary, out loud, four days early. Brad White on the 271 yards Auburn threw for: "not acceptable… we need to get better back there." He then called Chambliss elite and praised Kewan Lacy as "a game-changer" who "operates at a different speed." Lacy is a game-time decision. So is Florida receiver Eric Singleton Jr., hurt on the opening drive of the season.

3. Two Ole Miss defenders gave the same Baugh answer without conferring. Sharif Denson practiced against him at Florida for years: "bring your feet, wrap up, gang tackle him." Blake Purchase, who has never faced him: "wrapping up and getting him on the ground." A nickel and a defensive end, separate sessions, identical conclusion — there is no scheme that solves it.
