Is There An Adult In The Room At LSU? | Ole Miss vs Louisville Cardinals | CFB Week 1

Everyone's been reporting that the SEC went to federal court to stop LSU from playing three former Ole Miss players. That isn't what the filing does — and understanding the difference explains everything about where this is heading.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. The injunction is misunderstood. The SEC's federal filing isn't an attempt to keep three players off the field. It's an attempt to win back the conference's ability to impose penalties — to get around the state-level order. The SEC's own position has effectively been: play them all season, we won't stop you, the consequences land on the institution. That's a different fight than the one being reported.

2. LSU is sending two signals at once. The university president issued a statement saying LSU will follow the rules the SEC has set, which reads like an off-ramp. The governor of Louisiana went on television the same day saying they'll fight it. Meanwhile Tom Mars posted Friday morning that another state-level suit is coming, this one on breach of contract against the member institution.

3. And Tom Vanderford's keys for Sunday: total front-seven domination against the run, 200 rushing yards for Ole Miss, and a defensive end as the defensive MVP. He wants to see the tight ends used, the new receivers outside of Deuce Alexander, and Makai Frazier get 30 to 40 yards. His score: 38-17.
