Ephesians 4

If you’re a part of a healthy church, you know that unity and fellowship is God’s good gift to the saints, but that gift doesn’t come without effort. Paul urges the Ephesian church to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. This kind of work doesn’t fall only to those who have titles within the church; the ascended Christ has blessed the whole church with gifts of varying kinds to strengthen and equip the entire church body for the work of ministry. In Christ, we are to put off the old self which is corrupted by deceitful desires, so that we can be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and put on the new self which is created in Christ’s likeness.
