SHOCKWAVE: Utah Mammoth Roster Battles HEAT UP—Should Vincent Trocheck BE the Top Center?

Utah Mammoth spark debate with shifting forward dynamics as Vincent Trocheck dominates the faceoff circle and rookie Yegor Borikov makes a statement with speed and scoring touch. After a 4-1 preseason loss to the Colorado Avalanche, questions swirl about the Mammoth’s top-9 alignment—could Trocheck return to the 1C role, pushing Nick Schmaltz to wing and altering the lineup for Barrett Hayton and others?

The conversation focused on Sebastian Cossa’s solid goaltending performance, Brandon Tanev’s physical edge, and rookie Caleb Desnoyers' two-way impact, while Maveric Lamoureux’s defensive miscues and Michael Hrabal’s tough outing raise concerns. With veterans and prospects being rotated through condensed preseason action, only a few games remain to settle heated competition for roster spots. Who will seize the opportunity and cement their place before opening night?
