Meghan Markle’s As Ever holiday collection has arrived with some eye-catching prices. The Pantry Basket costs $259, the Parlour Basket is $242 and the Hostess Basket comes in at $211. Meghan celebrated the launch with a personal Instagram montage tracing her entrepreneurial streak from selling homemade scrunchies and Girl Scout cookies as a child to building As Ever, with appearances from Harry and Lilibet along the way.
Not everyone was impressed. Critics attacked the post as self-congratulatory, while royal commentator Tom Sykes questioned the continued use of Montecito and family imagery following the Sussexes’ reported return to Britain. Sykes argues Meghan is “selling a life she doesn’t actually live in” and presenting a “fantasy perfect domestic life” to market her products.
So why haven’t we seen much of Meghan since the family returned? An unnamed HeatWorld source claims it is deliberate, saying Meghan has been advised that being less accessible could generate greater interest when she eventually begins making more public appearances.
Meanwhile, King Charles teamed up with Sir Elton John at an Apple and King’s Trust music workshop in London, meeting young people hoping to build careers in the creative industries.
And finally, welcome to the Royal Family WhatsApp group. A former Highgrove gardener says Harry appeared in his phone as “Baz,” while William may have been “Bobcat” or “Wombat,” depending on which version of the story you prefer. Catherine was reportedly “Mrs. Bobcat.” We also revisit royal nicknames including Fred and Gladys, Cabbage, Sausage, Baldy, Big Willy and the young William’s adorable attempt to call Queen Elizabeth “Granny”: Gary.
Questions this episode answers: How much do Meghan Markle’s new As Ever holiday baskets cost? What is inside Meghan’s $259 Pantry Basket? Why is Meghan’s As Ever marketing being criticized?
