FIXING the Florida Gators Defense Under Jon Sumrall and Brad White

Florida Gators’ defense faces tough questions after explosive plays doom them against Missouri—can Jon Sumrall and Brad White find the right fixes before it’s too late?

Brandon Olsen breaks down the Gators’ defensive misfires, from blown man coverage assignments and ineffective pass rush plans to costly run-fit mistakes by players like Myles Johnson. The episode spotlights adjustments needed in coverage philosophy, including the shift toward more zone, the struggles defending wheel routes from the slot, and ongoing issues stemming from blitz frequency. Key stats highlight the reality behind the “bend-don’t-break” debate and compare Florida’s man coverage rates to elite programs like Georgia and Ohio State. Plus, Brandon Olsen questions whether Gators fans will accept less press-man in pursuit of a top-tier 2026 defense.

Will the Florida Gators’ defense adapt or continue to get exposed in SEC play? Don’t miss Brandon Olsen’s honest analysis as Florida looks to right the ship.
