Carnavale Resources Ltd managing director Humphrey Hale talked with Proactive about the company’s new aircore drilling campaign of more than 7,000 metres at the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia, as Carnavale advances both exploration and proposed mine development.
The program has two main components. Around 4,000 metres of aircore drilling will test prospective structures along the greenstone-granite contact about 2 kilometres from the high-grade Swiftsure deposit, while a further 3,000 metres will sterilise areas planned for potential mine infrastructure.
Hale said the exploration target was particularly encouraging because of geological similarities with nearby deposits. “It’s a very good contact, a very good prospective target undercover,” he said, adding that the area was close to the proposed development at Swiftsure.
Carnavale has also lodged its Mine Development and Closure Plan and Natural Vegetation Clearing Permit. Hale said the applications were significant steps on the approvals pathway and reflected environmental, development and feasibility work already completed by the company.
The company is also finalising its Bankable Feasibility Study for the Kookynie Gold Project. Hale said tender pricing for areas including earthmoving had been incorporated into the work, with the financial model and final report being completed.
Following the BFS, Carnavale intends to progress potential offtake, ore purchase or toll-treatment arrangements, which Hale said could help secure project revenue and support future debt funding.
“With these permits running, we’re very much pushing hard to get this thing in production as soon as possible,” Hale said.
