5-Year-Old, Weighing 20lbs, Found Floating in Black Trash Bag in Escambia Bay | Jalynda Smith

Five-year-old Jakaiden Smith had seen his pediatrician in December 2025 weighing about 30 pounds.

Less than two months later, a passerby spotted a black trash bag floating along a Florida bay. Inside was Jakaiden, weighing just 20 pounds.

His mother, Jalynda Smith, had disappeared. 

What investigators allege happened before Jakaiden reached that water may be even harder to understand than how he was found.
