National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday in June. But did you know that its origins trace back more than a century to the Salvation Army's "Donut Lassies," who served donuts and comfort to American soldiers during World War I?
Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo's Bakery, and Merle Heatwole, National Commander of the Salvation Army, join Kennedy to discuss how they're honoring that legacy by delivering donuts to veterans across the country. They share the story behind the holiday, the impact of the Salvation Army's mission, and why the tradition continues to resonate today.
