The Other Mrs. Diefenbaker: Edna Diefenbaker

Without Edna Diefenbaker, John Diefenbaker would have never been prime minister. Yet, he sweeps his first wife to the dustbin of history, and barely acknowledged her in his three volume memoirs. He overlooked her in life, and did the same after she died.

Every place communicates a story. It’s now time to capture those stories through your lens!

Entre the National Trust for Canada’s #HistoricPlacesDays #PhotoContest and showcase a historic site that is meaningful to you for a chance to win up to $1,000 for you and $1,000 for the historic site you photograph.

Contest runs from July 11-19, 2026.

To enter:

Take a photo at a historic place in Canada

Share it on Instagram or Facebook using the #HPDPhotoContest and #HistoricPlacesDays

Tag @nationaltrustca, the historic site you photographed, and me so I can see your entry

Visit historicplacesdays.ca/contests/ for full contest details and eligibility.

I can’t wait to see the places you choose and the stories you tell.
