Can the Oklahoma Defense Actually Carry This Team? | Will The Offense Keep This Up?

Oklahoma Sooners edge out Texas with Lloyd Avant leading a revitalized ground attack—has the offense finally turned a corner? John Mateer’s composure under pressure and crucial late-game throws to Isaiah Sategna sparked hope for consistent production, but questions remain about Oklahoma’s offensive identity and running back rotation after key injuries and inconsistent play-calling.

Jay Smith and Brady Trantham break down the Sooners’ gritty victory, spotlighting defensive resilience and discussing whether Brent Venables’ unit can carry Oklahoma through a tough SEC slate. With battle-tested performances against premier defenses like Georgia and Michigan behind them, the Sooners’ upcoming matchups against Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Missouri could define their season. Will this defense be enough to fuel a deep run, or must the offense evolve to keep Oklahoma in playoff contention?
