College Sports, Radical Democrats & the Broken Ivy League

In this episode of Verdict with Ted Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson discuss the latest push to pass the Protect College Sports Act, the Senate vote count behind the legislation, and what happens next if the bill clears the Senate. They examine proposed rules involving coaching recruitment and athlete eligibility, discuss support from figures such as Matthew McConaughey and Deion Sanders, and analyze broader political stories involving Democratic candidates, media coverage, and ideological shifts within higher education. The episode concludes with a discussion of political donations among university faculty and what the hosts argue that trend says about the modern political landscape.

The bipartisan Protect College Sports Act is headed toward a major Senate vote, with supporters arguing it could reshape the future of college athletics through national standards for NIL, athlete benefits, and coaching rules. As momentum builds, the debate is expanding well beyond Washington and onto college campuses, athletic programs, and fan bases across the country. Fresh off a high-profile college football weekend, the conversation turns to how changes in college sports have created pressure for federal action. The episode also explores the growing support behind the legislation from conferences, universities, the NCAA, and prominent figures in the sports world.
