STILL THINKING: Taylor Smith TAKES His Time on A's GM Offer—What’s Holding Him Back?

Athletics face a pivotal crossroads as top GM candidates hesitate, citing concerns over owner John Fisher’s commitment to building a winning front office. Taylor Smith of the Boston Red Sox emerges as a leading target, but questions abound: will increased resources and a prestigious title sway talent to the A's, or are the team's reputation and limited infrastructure too much to overcome?

The conversation focused on what the A’s can learn from the Milwaukee Brewers’ small-market success. Key themes include the Brewers’ pitching development, locking up young talent like Cooper Pratt and Jackson Churio, and how the A’s core of Jacob Wilson, Tyler Soderstrom, and Lawrence Butler compares. The discussion explored why consistent winning is crucial for long-term fan support in Las Vegas, with rising ticket prices and sports capitalism under scrutiny. Can the A's replicate Milwaukee’s formula and secure fan loyalty in a new city?
