Locked On College Football roundtable- week 5

Missouri Tigers dismantle Florida Gators behind Austin Simmons’ breakout and Jamal Roberts’ explosive late runs. As coaching seats heat up, is Eli Drinkwitz safer than Lincoln Riley? The SEC’s shifting competitive balance, exemplified by wild margins and upsets, raises questions about defense and the risk of letdown games on the road.

The conversation focused on Ohio State’s dominance, Houston Cougars’ underappreciated win with their unique astronaut helmets, and Miami Hurricanes’ ACC supremacy heading into a pivotal clash with Notre Dame. A key theme that emerged was the controversy surrounding AP Poll rankings, playoff expansion debates—including automatic Group of 6 bids—and whether deserving or best teams should make the College Football Playoff. Insights covered injury worries for Miami, the emotional grind of SEC schedules, and what recent blowouts signal about the evolving college football landscape. Will the new playoff format preserve urgency, or tip the scales toward chaos?
