Melvin Council RETURNS to Kansas Jayhawks After Troll Job - What it Means for Bill Self & KU

Kansas Jayhawks fans breathe a sigh of relief as Melvin Council returns, spurning LSU, Kentucky, and Michigan amidst an eligibility saga—could this signal a run back to the top for KU basketball? Derek Johnson unpacks Council’s dramatic decision, Bill Self’s emphatic endorsement, and why the star guard’s leadership, defense, and passing make him vital to the Jayhawks’ hopes this season.

Key discussions focus on Kansas’ reloaded roster, the ripple effects for guards Taylen Kinney and Leroy Blyden, and the end of TKR pursuit. Johnson breaks down Council’s advanced stats, including elite assist-to-turnover ratios and on-off impact, while exploring rotation questions and the potential for locker room shakeups. With Council practicing immediately and NCAA eligibility battles ongoing, Kansas' championship odds may be better than ever—will Self’s roster management propel the Jayhawks back into the national title hunt?
