Big 12 Footbal Preview: Upset Alerts, Conference Contenders & Must-Watch Matchups | BIG 12 SQUAD

The Locked On Big 12 Squad broke down a deceptively challenging weekend slate across the conference, highlighting several games that could shake up the league race despite the absence of a marquee matchup. The panel focused on contests such as Houston vs. Kansas State, Arizona vs. West Virginia, Iowa State vs. BYU, and Kansas vs. Utah, noting that several ranked or highly regarded teams face potential trap games. Arizona earned praise for its dominant recent performances, while West Virginia was viewed as a dangerous underdog capable of pulling an upset. Meanwhile, BYU's growing injury list became a major topic of discussion, with hosts debating whether the Cougars can continue winning despite key absences against an improving Iowa State team.

The conversation also centered on the Big 12's championship contenders and evolving power structure. Utah received significant support as the conference's most complete team entering the week, while Texas Tech's offense drew scrutiny despite the Red Raiders continuing to win games. Oklahoma State was praised for its resurgence and status as a legitimate contender, though panelists questioned whether national rankings properly reflect several Big 12 teams. Baylor's recent surge, TCU's inconsistencies, and concerns about quarterback play across the conference also fueled debate. Ultimately, the group agreed that while Utah currently sets the standard, the Big 12 remains one of the nation's most unpredictable leagues, where a single weekend could dramatically reshape the conference title picture.
